With today’s hectic lifestyle it is becoming increasingly important to look after the whole self and people are generally becoming more aware of the holistic approach to a healthy, happy and beautiful lifestyle. To respond to these growing demands it is vital to ensure that professional services are offered by high quality practitioners.

Hairdressing, Beauty and Holistic Therapies has offered vocational training for hairdressers, beauticians and holistic practitioners for many years and is a busy and vibrant centre where students can explore their creativity and flair within a caring and supportive environment.

There are four training salons for hairdressing and 6 for beauty within the centre where learners operate in a realistic work environment and, in addition to improving practical skills under supervision, get the opportunity to build up customer care skills and develop confidence in client care.

The hairdressing suite consists of a men’s salon, two commercial salons and a cut and blow dry salon. The Beauty area comprises a manicure salon, a facial salon, two body salons and two commercial salons. These are open six days and four evenings a week and service a large clientele. There are a wide range of treatments on offer together with a retail outlet.

In addition, the centre has two Art and Design rooms for Creative Studies, which are used for wig making and ITEC make-up. Students studying theatrical make-up are able to photograph their work and create a portfolio for their CV and evidence.

There are opportunities too for students to participate in the circuit of numerous national competitions and a student within the centre took the National Student of the Year Award in hairdressing recently.
